Meet Zach Reinhardt

Zach Reinhardt is a leader with a proven track record of supporting higher education. Zach believes the ladder of success should reach everyone, and he knows, from his time on the Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors, that the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) system helps make that possible by providing high-quality, affordable education for all in our community.

For more than a decade Zach has focused much of his energy on volunteering and engaging in the work of making Omaha an even better place to live, work, and play. Zach served six years on the MAPA Heartland 2050 Housing and Development Committee, with two of those years as Co-Chair. Starting in 2019 Zach served a three-year term on the Greater Omaha Chamber's Young Professional Council, and including a year as Chair of the Talent Retention Committee. In 2018 Zach joined the inaugural Board of Directors of the Citylight Arts Project, an organization with a mission to make more room for the arts in Benson, and served two years as President of that board. Zach currently serves on the Board of Directors of Project Houseworks, a non-profit organization focused on enhancing lives and strengthening communities through the preservation of quality affordable housing. Zach's proven track record of leadership and service in these civic organizations is a direct result of his love for Omaha, and his desire to see it become an even better place to live, work, and play. The experience he has gained, serving in these leadership roles, prepared Zach to be an effective member of the MCC Board of Governors.

Zach is the son of a single mother, Kathy, who always worked hard to provide a great life for him. Her hard work and tenacity served as an important example of finding a way through, even during challenging times. While she didn't have the chance to finish college herself, Zach's mother instilled in him the importance of a good education as a source of opportunity in life.

Zach earned a degree in Real Estate and Land Use Economics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2014, at the ripe young age of 28. The classes he took at Metropolitan Community College allowed him to accelerate his path to a degree, saving him time and money. It was that experience that made it clear to Zach how valuable a resource MCC is to the community. As a first-generation college graduate, and a non-traditional student at that, Zach has an appreciation for the hard work that it takes to get a good education when the statistics are not favorable.

Zach knows that education opens doors to opportunity, and he works hard to support students in any way he can. Since graduating in 2014, Zach has remained actively involved in the Real Estate program at UNO. He serves on the advisory board for that program, supporting the education of more than 100 students. Zach has mentored students in the Scholars Academy at UNO since 2017, and he has had the joy of seeing those students build small businesses and move into fulfilling careers. Each semester Zach has the opportunity to speak with real estate students, sharing his experiences, and encouraging the next generation of real estate professionals.

Zach and his wife of nearly 15 years, Melissa live in the Robin Hill neighborhood with their pup, Pancake. Zach works as President of Real Estate at a local real estate development firm. Melissa is a Registered Nurse in the NICU at Children’s Nebraska, and a proud graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center School of Nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a transfer student from MCC, Melissa's degree would simply not have been possible without the education she received at MCC. Zach Reinhardt is excited to continue to work hard to support MCC students and serve the residents of District 4 as a member of the Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors.
